An admissions representative came to my school two months ago, but I had to go to a previous commitment, and was unable to attend. I waited for the woman to come, gratefully took her business card, and literally ran to community service. Later in the week, I emailed her a well-thought out question, but received no response. I decided to re-email her around a week ago, but still no response. Eventually, I looked up the program I was interested in, found the director, and emailed him- but again, no response! It's not like my questions were vague or anything, they were fairly direct.

Anyway, has anyone here had similar encounters with Occidental? I'm quite interested in the school, but this is a bit off-putting.

Yes, I have.
I did ask a question about a dance supplement that they answered, and my admissions representative answered my other question, but other than that:

I filled out the form requesting an Alumni interview…no response.
Sent in my application…never got a notification that they received it.
Sent in an email asking if they got my application…no response.
Sent in an email clarifying a mistake on my Common App…no response.
It makes me a bit nervous.

I also sent in my application, and received no response, except for the automatic “your common app has been sent” email. I’m going to request an alumni interview soon, hopefully there will be some type of response for both of us!

Good luck with getting any of your questions answered!

@dancepsychlove, you do know that it can take up to two weeks to hear back from an alumni interviewer, right? that’s about how long it took me to get mine back in september, and i had all my important questions answered in that interview. also, did you email vince cuseo (the admissions director)? when i emailed him questions about my application, he responded right away.

We were on the phone quite alot during the college tour/visit/interview process as calls weren’t returned or answers were so vague as to not be helpful. I really had to drive the boat which was more than annoying. When we got there they were very helpful and it was a great visit but they really need a tune up…too laid back for us, I guess.

@ava123 I filled out the official request form on the website in October. I think it’s been two weeks
I got most of my questions answered by the admissions representative that came to my school (it was only her and me). She’s reading my application first so that was helpful.
I would have liked to know officially that Oxy received my application, but no complaints as long as it all turns out ok.
