Accidentally put net income instead of gross

I noticed I accidentally put my net income instead of gross on the application. Working full time and a low claimed gross income was put on my app- which would equal out to below minimum wage if you did the math. Do you guys think this is a big deal? It's not far off from my net income, for financial aid reasons. Do the admissions people approving your app even see your stated income you put on there? I don't want to be denied admission because of a stupid mistake... If you actually think it is a big deal please don't sugarcoat it haha.

That stuff was completely optional. The only reason to fill it out was to see if you can get a fee waiver (and to possibly get some scholarship opportunities which never seem to materialize…). You’ll be fine.

Thanks for the reply… I just don’t want them to think I am lying about how much I work since I work over 40 hours a week -as stated in my application- and put my gross as under 10k… That’s like half the amount of minimum wage at over 40 hours. If I was an admissions officer and saw someone worked over 40 hours a week but put under 10k as their gross income I would think they are BS’ing. Either way it was a legitimate mistake and I don’t want to be penalized for it :(

I called UC and they stated that I need to fill out a form and note my gross income during the update in January. Just in case someone has the same situation and messed that part of the application up.

what is the difference between these two?!lol

haha gross is your income before taxes and net is your income after taxes. If you mix these two up depending on your employment type, it can be a HUGE difference.

dont worry too much about it. you will be given a chance to correct it.

just dont forget to make the same mistake with the FAFSA application, because that will determine the financial aid and scholarships (yes i got one so its not impossible). however even with FAFSA you can still correct your mistakes

aah I see…recent immigrant here ;)
