Hi, I'm an accepted student and I'm going to Wildcat Days on April 16th. I'm from California, and my family won't be able to join me, so I'll be traveling alone.
I just called the Best Western in Evanston and found out about the policy that 18-year-olds must be checked in to the hotel by someone over 21.
Do you know if anyone from Northwestern would be able to check me into my hotel? Or, alternatively, is it possible to stay with a Northwestern student in a dorm for Wildcat Days?
Thanks for your help.

Call the admissions office to check about staying in a dorm. My S hosted a prospective student in his dorm room a couple of years ago; I would be surprised if this wasn’t still an option.

I was under the impression that the campus provided housing for students…

I tried to figure out where they explicitly said it; I’m sure they did, but I can’t seem to find it anymore.

I’m an accepted student and going on the 16th as well. Once you sign up, and you visit the “Accommodations” part of the Wildcat Days site, it should say something like “While Wildcat Days attendees are being hosted on campus by students, parents will need to make their own arrangements.” I’m pretty sure you’ll be staying with a student and you don’t need to make hotel reservations.

Where does it say that?
I looked all over the website and all I found was this:

[Accommodations: ; Office of Undergraduate Admission - Northwestern University](Visit With Us: Admitted Students - Northwestern University)

jrpar is right. In your case, because you are traveling on your own, your circumstances dictate a different game plan. Some students travel with parent/s, and therefore typically stay in a hotel.
Congratulations on your acceptance to NU!
Go Wildcats!!

Congratualtions! You are now what is known as a “Prospie” in NU Parlance. You should be wined and dined and almost treated like a recruited athlete, so enjoy the heck out of it, and Prospies usually get assigned to Res College / Dorm Volunteers.

You should email and/or call just to make sure, but that’s the way it has gone in the past.

Hmmm…mine said that in the email I got, with a link attached so I could read more about the accomodations and FAQ’s. I’d email NU and find out.
