Only 14% get in after being deferred? Holy crap, I'm so screwed. :/

Nothing here in CT yet, though...ahhh this week sucks.

Nothing here, we live about 23 miles away.

RE: the acceptance rate for students deferred early action, the following comes directly from the Boston College website:

If I am not admitted through Early Action, can I reapply through Regular Decision?

The majority of students not admitted during the Early Action review process will be deferred to the Regular Decision review process. These students will automatically be reconsidered during the Regular Admission evaluation and notified of their decisions in April. These students should forward new grades and test scores as they become available. Approximately 20% of candidates deferred at Early Action are admitted during the Regular Decision process. Early Action applicants whose records do not meet Boston College's standards will be denied. These students may not reapply during the Regular Admission process.

I just called and they said that letters were mailed out today. If I do not get into my top choice and get into BC, I will have a really tough time choosing between Lehigh (accepted), NYU (accepted), and BC. Can you guys give me some advice/opinions considering I am planning on going pre-med? Thanks!

You really can't go wrong with NYU, but I don't know much about BC's and Lehigh's med programs. Remember that where you go for grad school is more important than undergrad (assuming you do go to grad school).

I thought about applying to NYU, but after speaking with the reps from BC and NYU about pre-med, I dropped it in favor of BC.

So if we live in the Boston area, is it safe to say we will be getting our letters tomorrow?

^If they mailed before 4 or whenever the post office closes then yea...

so if they're in the post, when can we check online?

decisions are only done by mail... I think the online options will be available within a week or so (someone correct me if i'm wrong here)... so you will most likely get your letter first

Darn, looks like I'll have to run to the mailbox after enjoying my bowl of West Coasties ;) to see if I heard from BC on Friday... then or maybe Thursday I'll hear from them.

Checking the Status of Your Boston College Application

"Please note that Boston College does not post admission decisions online."

don't we all wish they did...

Haha same about the West Coasties! I'm not sure if it's good for my mental health but I'm already expecting to be denied. Oh well.

I just hope it's not like last year when people were waiting until 4/7 to get their decisions x_x

don't get ur hopes up about it arriving today even if ur in boston. If they sent all the letters out at once, it might take the post office a day to sort through all of them before they send them to their respective locations. so people in ur area may also receive a letter before you do. and good luck to everyone!

32,000 letters. Jeez, I can't imagine managing the logistics of all that. You're right, it'll probably take 1 day minimum to get through all of the mail...

It came! It came! Our son's in! I'll post his stats later.

where are you from? ours didn't come (Maryland)

Previous posts from emmabelle in this thread indicates that she is within 30 miles of BC, so it's not terribly surprising that she got the letter already.

Congratulations!

well congratulations! :D I assume it's good news. I'm really happy for you! :D
