Hey CC,
So this summer I am planning my schedule. Right now I am thinking of taking Financial Accounting, for my major prep, and Film, for my G.E. requirement. Accounting will meet every day for three hours Monday to Thursday, while Film will meet Monday and Wednesday for four hours on each of those days. Both classes will be for about 6 weeks in the summer, and I am probably going to be working part-time too while doing this. My question is would this be hard to get A's in, more specifically the accounting class is what I am worried about because my major is accounting. I need to take two at least two classes this summer to be on schedule to transfer by the end of Spring 2013, by the way I go to community college.

anyone???

Hi Jace,

I am an econ major doing a possible emphasis in accounting, and I have the same question. (Except I’m planning to take three classes. Eek.)

I think it really depends on how well you handle condensed material, the difficulty of the class(es) you are taking, and the professors (are they hard graders? lots of homework? ratemyprofessors will save you a lot of trouble). I took 8 credits last summer (Trig & College Algebra and Psychology) and maintained a 4.0. Hopefully that gives you some encouragement.

I personally love condensed material and learning things quickly, even though it’s a huge challenge. I’m also thinking of working part-time this summer (<20 hrs/wk), and again it really depends on the person and the type of work. I’m thinking that my courseload this summer might make me a little bit crazy, but it’ll be worth it in the long haul.

I’m looking forward to anything anyone else has to say on this subject. Good luck!
