Hi everyone, I'm new here. I dug around the forum to get some advice but realize that I still have some unanswered questions. I'm humbly asking for any advice - it will be greatly appreciated!

To make a long story short, I was once adamant about Law School and becoming an attorney, and now I want to get an MBA. It will better fulfill my desires, what I look for in a job, flexibility, more opportunities, I might like my job more, etc....

My major is currently Philosophy (again, I was adamant about law school), and expect to graduate with a 3.5 GPA by the time I am done with my major. I have the option of taking some Accounting Courses here at UCLA, but the Accounting Minor (no major available), is extremely competitive and might only hurt my GPA.

The reason why I want to pursue Accounting is because it is related to my ultimate goal, and feel that it will always be something solid to fall back on. That said, here are my questions:

Should I even pursue an Accounting Degree?
If so, which is better, Accounting Minor from UCLA, Post Bacc from any of the Los Angeles Area Schools, or taking the CPA courses necessary to sit for the CPA exam?

Should I focus on my GPA here at UCLA, or begin my business focus now?

How would starting my own business serve as "work experience"?
This might be a dumb question, but I have an offer with a company my mother has worked for for the past 20 years to manage one of their product lines along with my mother. It will be fully subsidized by them, I would just be the one in charge, however, it would be under my name. It would give me the opportunity to pursue something like taking my CPA courses at a community college at night, and then sit for the CPA when I complete my CPA work experience as well - all while I build up my resume for Business School.
