I’m so stressed I got to a community college and I’m almost done I just have fall term & spring term to go. But I feel like the closer I get the more I’m messing up. I’m taking a accounting. The teacher doesn’t really teach the class enough for me to understand it. I try to find a tutor but since this week he’s been out of office and there’s no way for me to reach him. What makes it even more frustrating is the homework because no one is there to help me understand the material I even tried YouTube video to teach myself still no luck I even tried google still nothing!!! This really discourages me because I really don’t know what else to do. If I can’t even get through the homework how am I suppose to even pass the class?
Try Khan academy https://www.khanacademy.org/search?page_search_query=accounting
If it is beyond that find an edX accounting course https://www.edx.org/
also google your textbook, a lot of times there are online resources that teachers don’t utilize but are very helpful slide shows, online practice tests and videos organized by chapter
Omg thanks!!! I’m going to try it now. Have you took accounting before? Right now I’m taking finaical accounting i realized that for me to actually do go I have to put in a lot of hours to at least know the material
Yes, it’s actually kind of fun. At first it is mostly new vocabulary, then moving number pairs back and forth into different accounts. If you think of it like a card game matching pairs (double entry accounting), you’ll do just fine.
Hi - I’ve posted about this before, but I do accounting for a living, and I thought accounting classes were hard. Sometimes, things take a while just to click, and if you’ve got a teacher who isn’t good at finding different ways to explain, you’re out of luck.
I’d recommend getting the Accounting for Dummies book. It’s not expensive, and covers a lot of good stuff in clear language. It’s also got a good website you can use for reference.
@Pheebers I have no idea if intro classes like principles of accounting are always required before starting with regular accounting classes. My daughter took two years of high school honors accounting then took both principles of accounting 1 and 2 at cc for dual enrollment. She is now a senior in high school and hoping to go into accounting. Do you think these classes will be helpful or is it really different?
@momtogirls2 Accounting is sequential at the start and introduction to accounting is always required before a higher level (ex. intermediate accounting) can be taken. If you have questions about your D’s college program please start a new thread instead of posing a different question on an existing thread. There is a business majors page which may be a good place.
