Hi,
I got my BBA in accounting and I am currently enrolled in an MBA program and expect to graduate at the end of 2009. I worked two years as a staff auditor and I am turning 26. I am seriously thinking that accounting is not the right field for me. What should I do? I do want to take the CPA exam, that is why I am in graduate school, but I hate accounting.

I want to change majors with better pay. Can someone list some good majors?
I am thinking about engineering or should I go into some health field but I don't know what to do since I am getting an MBA. I think engineers go for MBA after they get their bachelors.
What do MBA's do? Do I have to take undergraduate engineering classes?

I think I made a bad decision in life...
Thanks

You go back and get another bachelor’s degree I would think. Particularly for something like engineering, which is pretty different from accounting.

First off, why are you going to take the CPA exam if you dislike accounting? I think you’d be wasting money and time studying for something you really don’t like and aren’t going to practice.

I believe with a degree in accounting and an MBA, you can practically go into any business field that interests you. You can look into finance since that’s close to accounting. If I were you, I’d talk with a career counselor so you can find out what it is you really want to do.

I’m confused because you said you are an MBA. An MBA isn’t the same as an accounting major and is intended to open up many different opportunities.

This is an example of why you shouldn’t go for an MBA with little to no experience.

I was an accounting major (BBA).
I don’t feel like I learned anything in undergraduate and in the MBA program.
So I feel like I should go into something more scientific.

I want to take the CPA just to have something to fall back on…

I think the field is too production oriented and would soon start to shrink
Most companies properly report their FS and the ones that don’t are the ones that auditors never get. I think that salary is going downhill from here on.

huh, what is going on i’m still considering accounting as my major as a freshman i don’t know but hope i won’t make a bad decision too i’m doing a double major in accouting and mis and a minor in econs, i shouldn’t have any problem or do i !!!
