hello, i know that there is an accounting minor, and i heard that this takes you halfway to get the CPA license. Is this true? and is it a waste of me taking this as a minor instead of going to separate school for CPA?

Thank you.

you need 225 units to sit for the cpa exam. rady says the accounting minor (7 courses) plus an additional two courses satisfies the accounting portion of the education requirement. ucsd’s accounting program is very new. you can major in accounting at sdsu, which has a more established program.

I think this depends on what you want to do. If you want to be an accountant for sure, then it’d probably be better for you to go to a school where you can major in accounting. If you’re interested in other stuff though(like maybe management science or something), then you should definitely consider going here and minoring in accounting.

BTW: the accounting minor will cover you for the CPA exam. That’s what it says on the website, I’m pretty sure. Google it!
