Accounting or Finance as 1st choice major?! Business Undecided? Which looks better on application?

Debating between my first choice major on my college application. I am interested in accounting, but also take great interest in Finance. Since I plan to get a masters in business, I will probably go for a 5 year masters in business, and therefore end up double majoring in the two. I know the two are similar.
Just wondering, is there a particular major that appeals to college admissions more? Meaning, will they accept an accounting student over a finance student (or vice versa)?

The college has a major called business undecided also. Which would be ideal so I can see what I like best before I entirely commit to a certain major. Would I be better off putting this? Does this at all hurt (or help) my chances of admission?

It makes not difference at all. I’ve heard admissions officers say that they pay no attention to intended major since on average half of the students who apply with a major in mind end up changing while they are in college. As long as you apply to the business school you will be fine. You won’t actually declare a major until (probably) the end of your second semester of sophomore year.

I agree. I would be shocked if admissions officers took ‘intended major’ seriously. The only possible exception might be if you are an underrepresented demographic for a certain major that the school is trying to recruit for or something, but I don’t know if that’s actually true.

@happy1 @gardna so which do you suggest I put down then in that case if it doesn’t really matter?

Whatever you want…
