I've read that all colleges give pretty much the same accounting education. What matters is the amount of recruiting that the school gets. Based on this, what schools on the east coast get the highest amount of recruiters for accounting? Also, as far as state schools go, which would be better, Rutgers or TCNJ?

As for Rutgers and TCNJ... I guess Rutgers?

Something's a bit off on that list...it lists MIT as number 20; however, MIT doesn't offer an accounting concentration (which recruiters generally require). The only accounting classes offered are the introductory principles courses, which do not count toward the CPA exam requirements.

If you're going for accounting, I wouldn't choose schools based on recruiting: in general, if one of the Big 4 recruits at a school, at least two of the others do (KPMG doesn't seem to be recruiting as much in some areas at the moment). In general, your school doesn't play a major role in whether you're recruited or not. As long as you meet the minimum GPA requirement and can sell yourself, you should be fine. Focus more on where you'd like to be (while I like both, TCNJ and Rutgers are in very different areas) and the opportunities the program itself will give you. I got my job at PwC primarily because of the type of things I did at BU that some of the other schools didn't do.
