I got direct admit to Kelley but did not get invited to the ace program. Can I get into the program later on?
No. Ace program is just for freshman. All Ace program participants are automatically accepted to Kelley Business Honors if they maintain a3.5 GPA I think. If not in Ace you can apply to get into Honors after Freshman year.
Thanks. Am I at a huge disadvantage in not being In the program? Does klcc help get you into the business honors program?
@GraceDad Ace program kids are automatically admitted to Kelley honors if they both have a 3.5 and did well in the mandatory Ace classes: BUS-C106 Honors Business Presentations and BUS-K204 Honors Computers in Business.
@schoolisfunforme I was not in the Ace program and got into Kelley Honors. Not being in Ace is not a big deal.
Focus on your GPA first semester. To be competitive it had better be a 3.8 or above, not just the 3.7 minimum… The 2 teacher recommendations are important, so go to office hours and be known by your C-104/106 and K-201/204 teachers as their recommendations are automatic.
Get involved in a club and hopefully become an officer first semester. VP is good enough, but make sure you’re in more than one thing. Before Welcome Week, scope out the clubs you might like to join. During Welcome Week, chat up the kids at the signup tables and jump in.
Finally, be ready to stand up and take questions during the interview process. It will be you and a couple other kids fielding questions from the interviewers. Kelley Honors kids are expected to be good on their feet, professional, and leaders.
The KLLC makes no difference whatsoever to Business Honors.
Thank you very much. Also if I get into kllc I will be living in Mcnutt on a seperate floor. Should I be concerned that Mcnutt is known for partying? I also put my second preference as northwest neighborhood since it is close to Kelley. My dorm preference is enhanced which means I would live in briscoe if i don’t get into kllc. Is this fine?
Yes u should be concerned about partying at McNutt. The posts are true.
Briscoe is even farther away than McNutt but nice. Central Neighborhood is much closer to Hodge
Ok so if I get admitted into the kllc I don’t have a choice but to live in Mcnutt. If I don’t get in, I put enhanced as my preference which means i am left with only three dorms, two of which are in southeast which is very far from hodge hall. The other one is briscoe which is what I put as my second preference. Do you think living in briscoe is fine? Or should I change my second preference to a standard dorm in central?
Briscoe is very nice, its just at the far northern end of campus. People like to complain about the walk but it’s not that bad.
I am biased living in Ashton and enjoy the short 5 min walk to Hodge. Its nowhere near as nice as Briscoe, but is half the price for Residence Scholars and is all singles.
IMHO people spend too much time worrying about their dorm choice. Focus on whats important to you in terms of location, comfort, cost, etc and don’t look back.
