Ack! What does this mean? (Status update...)

Not feeling too hopeful at the moment. BUT, I wish you guys the very best of luck…only time will tell.

I’m not 100% sure on this but I think that the buttons from the links will not work for anybody because the buttons are linked directly to a USC ID regardless of acceptance. I think that when you click on the button it sends you to a URL address that will probably indicate to the server something related to your USC ID. I think that when if you were to actually get the button on your own homepage it would say something like usconnect.edu/enrollmentdeposit/?(USCID#)=true or something random like that to ensure that only you are able to access the page through the button. I could be wrong but if somebody that was already accepted could try to access the pages through the links on this thread it would help.

Bump. Would an admitted student please try using the links listed on this page as cdr777 said? It would be much appreciated

The links on p. 5 of this thread work for my S- because he is admitted already. Otherwise they should not work until a student is admitted.

Best wishes to all USC hopefuls- over the next 3 weeks you WILL hear some news!

hello21 and hoobucs, were your stats good? I thought I had a fairly good chance at USC… but now I’m having doubts.

My stats are decent at best. Good test scores (1440/2120 SAT), mediocre gpa (about 3.5 uw), but I feel like I put together a really good app with great essays, extracurriculars, and recommendations. I thought I had a fairly good chance.

gashergina, if you are able to open those boxes that were linked a few pages back (the deposit and rsvp links), I feel like you have good things to come. Don’t worry, I want to say you are in a better position than most of us who can’t open those boxes.

By “opening the boxes” do you mean being able to click on the link and see the boxes that pop up? I can do that, but once I actually click on them, they say i’m not authorized to view the page… =(

we have really similar stats, i also had a 3.5 UW but 1500/1600 SAT and pretty good essays/recs, etc.

well i guess things are out of our control no matter how much we try to decipher these USC statuses/link-opening-capabilities. Hope good news is on the way for both of us :)

The boxes will show up blank until you log into usc connect - then if you try them again, you’ll see the graphics and can click on the boxes (which for us, results in seeing “unauthorized” as well.) I seriously doubt these links are useful in any way until they show up officially on your actual USCconnect page.

yorkiemom:

What happens when he clicks on the links? We have a friend whose son clicks on them and the two boxes come up. He then clicks on those and his Undergraduate Application page appears. It just says the “Committee is reviewing…” Nothing new. But at least he gets SOMETHING. It doesn’t say unauthroized or anything like that. What does this mean, do you suppose? Did your son’s, as an admitted student say something different when he clicked on the boxes? Did it actually allow him to make the $300 deposit or any other prompt besides that Undergraduate App/acceptance status, etc?

different browsers get us different results with those links. one took us to the application. honestly, I don’t think they’re reliable.

sorry gashergina for the confusion, I know that you have to log on to usconnect before opening the links. When I click on them i get the same message as you. I thought you said you were getting a different message when you click the 'deposit" and “rsvp” boxes. I guess not. Just forget that last post I made haha.

That’s pretty cool our stats and situation are similar. Good luck to you, hopefully we’ll hear good news soon.

As far as what you should be able to view, IF you are officially admitted- 4 rectangular boxes with pictures (our method- through USConnect, logging in through the application status check, then seeing the Trojan CAM, click on Admission):

Enrollment Commitment: has a form you fill out allowing you to enroll and pay the $300. It is active (meaning you can actually fill out the form now) I would assume only for those students ALREADY admitted.

Undergraduate Application: Has your status and other related info…

Admission Documents: Admissions Document checklist

RSVP for Admitted Student programs: Lists events you can register to attend like Preview USC, On Campus Admitted student reception, and Off-Campus Reception

Only two of these were visible before S was admitted- the UG Application and the Admission Documents. It is logical I think?! I hope this doesn’t lead to more confusion. Your packet via mail will be THE definite notice of admittance.

Some people also have the midyear grades box.

I had NO idea those boxes meant you’ve been accepted. LMAO, I’ve had those boxes appearing on my page for a month now and I received my acceptance packet just this week (it came VERY late). It would’ve made the last 4-5 weeks a lot less stressful if I made the connection sooner, haha.

congrats on your acceptance MagicalMalik!

gashergina-as for my stats, I had 1530/2320 SAT score and 3.98 UW gpa.

My concern is that because I get an error message or w/e when I click on the boxes, it means I have not yet been accepted. I’m under the assumption that USC has already accepted people for the 2nd wave, although I dont think they’ve been sent out yet necessarily, and I know that if you don’t get an acceptance letter within the next couple of weeks, it probably means you’re getting a rejection around April/late March. Thus, I’m worried that I just will never be accepted and instead will be rejected.

hello21 - you have a 3.98 UW GPA and a 2320 SAT score and you didn’t get a scholarship at all? ***?!?!

congrats magical on your acceptance :)

Thanks man! You’re hilarious!

i am not a man. was your major that you applied for?

Sorry, as I feel like there are way more guys on CC then there are chicks, I tend to make the assumption that whoever I’m talking to is of the male persuasion. I’ve made that mistake twice today, haha. I applied as Computer Science (Games) major (it’s CS with an emphasis in video game development) and I got in! So psyched, I’m definitely attending USC this fall!
