ACT and housing challenges

I am planning to take the ACT for the final time in September. I will be applying to four schools, and I have specific residence halls picked out at each one that I would like to live in. For all these schools I plan to apply by the Early Action or Priority Deadline dates, which fall on November 1st. I will probably have the results by early October. If I have everything ready to go or sent by then, is that too late to get ahead in scholarship and housing applications?

Colleges I will apply to: University of Iowa (Honors Res Hall- Daum), University of Minnesota (Honors- Middlebrook), Indiana University (Kelley LLC or Honors) and Southern Methodist University.

Would it be better for me to spend $11 per college to send an old ACT score as a baseline for acceptance and send my new one later for scholarships so I can get a head start on housing? Please let me know what you think!

Have you checked the scholarship & housing websites for these colleges? For instance, it looks like the housing application isn’t available until Nov. 29 for UMinn:

You should check each college’s website, but it is unlikely that anybody’s housing clock starts before you submit your application and pay the fee. If an early application gets you better housing, and you know where you are applying then do that.

You don’t need to send them your ACT scores until you are finished with testing. If they don’t accept you based on your test scores, then the whole question is moot.

Thank you. I have reviewed the websites. My biggest concern is Honors housing running out at the University of Iowa, as I have a friend living there who said that students are living in lounges. Would it be beneficial to send an old score (30) and then update it later?

qialah is right-usually people all apply for housing at the same time

I’m not sure if honors housing is different, but you should call the resident life office at the school and ask them how the honors housing works so you know whether you should waste your money or not.
