OK, to those who have taken both, I would like to ask a situational question.
Lets say you take the ACT and get a 33 or 34. Then, you take the SAT and get like a 1980, 2000. Now, the ACT score is really good and the SAT score is alright. You send the scores to the same schools. Would you suggest retaking the SAT for a higher score or just keeping the really great ACT score? Also, can you withold your SAT score on an app. you sent the score to (like not write the scores in on the app.). Schools are Yale, Duke, ND, U-Mich, Columbia, and NW. Stats are good and comparable for admission. What would you do?

P.S. If you haven't taken both, or are trolling, please don't respond.

Keep the ACT scores. You can withold your sat scores only if your schools dont require SAT IIs.

Thanks, but what if I were to take SAT II's anyway?

You sound like you're in the same situation I'm in. I got a 1990 on SAT and 99th percentile (I think a 33) on ACTs. I've already applied to one school, and though it is my safety, I just sent them both, and they accepted me. I didn't take the ACT with writing, so I in general cannot send just my ACT scores. I figure, though, that even if I send all my schools both scores, it should be fine. I doubt that the lower SAT scores would detract anything from the high ACT scores.

many schools will consider which test you did better in. So in your case, the majority of admissions would use your ACT's (assuming they accept both scores).

My S used just his ACT, didn't send his SAT and was accepted most everywhere, those school however counted the ACT instead of SAT II's. A friend who is a GC at an elite private HS that is a feeder to many Ivy's recommended he do that. He however had a 32 ACT and only a 1340 SAT but had good SATII's.He did quite well in acceptances following her advice.
