Ok so I have never taken the ACT before but have had a lot of SAT prep. I have just registered for the April ACT and have no clue what to expect. For the essay is it the same idea as with the SAT, if you write a long one it will be almost guaranteed a good score + you can make your own facts? Also, for the literature part, how does it differ from the SAT; how does the grammar part differ from the SAT? Thank you so much, guys.

For the ACT, grammar is important but vocabulary is not. As for the essay, they want it long but also want you to discuss the opposition and why it is weaker than your position. Unlike the SAT, it is beneficial if you answer ALL questions as no penalties are given if you have a wrong answer.

So do you believe this will be an appropriate format for the essay:

intro
body paragraph 1
body paragraph 2
rebutting the opposition
conclusion

I believe so.
You can also poke around - as I had - and find some guides on this forum that might give you a better picture of the ACT such as jeandevaches’.

Oh thanks, will do.

basically, the longer the essay is, the higher you will score on it. Intro/Body1/body2/refutation/conclusion pretty much guarantees you an 8. If you can make it last 4 pages, you’ll be looking at an 11 or 12
