Hey guys I'm a white male and got a 33 composite.
35 English 35 math 29 reading and 31 science. 9 on essay.
Is this competitive for UVA engineering? Also are the English and math sections on the ACT more important in terms of admission?
Thanks

Are you in-state? That’s a competitive score for in-state, but out-of-state is a total crapshoot. Also take SAT bc UVA likes it better, and dont forget to take Math2 SAT subject test, plus one other. UVA strongly recommends subject tests. And of course, your grades and rigor need to be way high, whether in or out-of-state.

I am in state. I got a 770 math 2. Also they don’t have a preference for act or sat but my act was substantially higher. I am 10/277 and have very strong ectrcirics

My weighted gpa is a 4.31

They actually do prefer SAT, as the tour guide even told us that a few months

ago. Shouldnt make much difference for you. I’d say if you have decent ECs and rec letters, you will probably get in. Good luck!

I really doubt that’s true. I know of only one school to profess a choice (in CA, for the ACT).
The tour guide may have inferred the SAT was preferred based on the need for SAT IIs or the ability to superscore SATs (while most schools don’t do that for the ACT).

I would not count on the info about admission from the tour guide that much. You should have asked the admission office during the visit. On their website, they only post SAT admission stat though.
