I'm a Junior, but I'll most definitely be applying to UVA next year. What kind of SAT II scores do you out of state applicants have? I am taking them in January, so I need to have some sort of a goal other than try to get an 800 (which won't happen).

me, for engineering

800/750/660
IIC/US history/Writing

I don't believe they're used in admission at UVa. PLENTY of people from my school have gotten in ED without even having them! They do, of course, take them in the spring for placement purposes. Also, I go to a fairly uncompetitive high schoo, and no one at all preps for SAT2's. As a result, scores are often pretty crappy (high 500's/low 600's). This has not, from what I have seen, affected anyone's chances.

you serious? They're required on the application

aim for 700+, but 600s are fine also

I'm out of state, and my SAT I score as of now is only 1340, so I need to try to impress them some with SAT II. I think I can get my SAT I over 1400, but hasn't happened yet.

They're only required for placement, as far as I know.

they wont consider sat ii at all if it seems better than ur normal SAT? i got 700 on math I ANDII; writing 660... on sat I, 680 math and 620 verbal. as u can see, my sat ii math is better than math on sat

damn, I really wanted to Impress those engineering adcoms with an 800 IIC...

I can't believe they'd only be used for placement. The UC's I will be applying to count the SAT II more than the SAT I. I would have to think getting high scores on the SAT II's proves something.

I got into UVa ED this year and I had only completed two of the three required SAT IIs. I took writing and US history, scoring 550 and 720, respectively. I have to take my math one this month though.

All of my SATII scores (writing/mathIIC/bio) are essentially useless, considering i've taken AP tests in all of those subjects with a 4 or 5 score.
