I sent my ACT scores online using the code provided by ACT (5231). McGill says their actual code is 0935. I tried sending another report, but the site won't let me because it says code 0935 doesn't exist. I e-mailed the admissions office on Tuesday, but no response. What can I do?

uh oh....I would definitely say this is worth a phone call or an e-mail to the McGill administration. Obviously over christmas there's probably not much you could do until Monday, but I wouldn't mess with it.

However I seem to recall that 0935 was the College board code while 5231 was the ACT code for McGill....but then again, since that was a year ago my memory is totally unreliable.

The SAT code for McGill is 0935 (this comes from the SAT on line score selections). For ACT, the Institutional code at McGill is 5231 (this comes from the McGill instructions).

If you look up the code on line at ACT, what do they say it is?

This is also from the McGill instructions:

"For TOEFL, SAT and AP, the Institutional code at McGill is 0935-00. Only indicate a departmental code if test results are to be directed to the faculties of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (0864), Music (19), or Religious Studies (21)."

Although, I don't know how you would add this departmental code on the SAT web site.

Damn. See I did send a report to 5231, and that's what they're saying they don't have. 5231 does come up as McGill on the ACT site; bah, I dunno what's going on.

McGill's administration shows their worst colours during application time. Just work with them---perhaps fax them a photocopy of your scores and then arange to send another copy from ACT to McGill (call McGill and double check that 5231 is their number). Yeah, it'll cost you more money, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands you'll be shelling out for tuition in the upcoming years.
