ACT English section

I used to ace the English section, usually got around 33~34 on practice tests and got a 33 on the real one on October. Then I stopped studying ACT for a month because I had to prepare for the math level II exam. And just about a week ago, I started taking practice tests again and started getting 25s. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???

Did anyone have such experience?
The questions that I often miss are not grammar rules but rather the subjective ones such as
“Which one best accomplishes the writer’s goal?”

Thanks :’(

The English section is a lot about being accurate. Read all the answer choices even if you think it is simple and then eliminate the ones that are 100% wrong. This will eliminate careless errors. Read the sentences of interest aloud in your head or just be conscious as you mouth the words. The subjective ones are always supported by the text. Looking for the main idea of the passages will help you those types of questions.

After taking practice tests, note the questions you got wrong and the ones you guessed correctly. Ask yourself why you got it wrong or why you felt like you were unsure and had to guess. Make a list and try to not make those mistakes again. Since you got a 33 before, I’m sure minimizing mistakes is pretty much all you have to do to score high consistently.
