ACT for LSA

Even your claim for 3.8 last year is untrue. Did you not know that 3.85 rounds to 3.9 not 3.8? If you were really an Engineer, you would know that. Btw, I am a COE grad myself for CSE 2015

other than that you keep on talking about ACT, but it has already been established that COE does better on the ACT than LSA

your arguments consists of goal posting

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_the_goalposts

It was 3.83, then 3.85, and finally 3.87 in 2016. As I mentioned earlier, CoE always post 1 digit after decimal while the overall incoming class stat is always with 2 digits after decimal. How long have you been checking their stat? It has been 3.9 for CoE at least in the last 5 years.
Note that there are differences between “entering class of 2016” and “Fall 2016 enrolled freshmen” in the reported statistics. If you want to compare apple to apple, use at least the same description. You have been using the incoming class data and ignored the enrolled freshmen data.

http://obp.umich.edu/wp-content/uploads/pubdata/cds/cds_2016-2017_umaa.pdf

From CDS 2016 (2015), the SAT mid 50 for UMich enrolled freshmen were:
Math: 670-770 (660-770)
Reading: 640-730 (630-730)
Writing: 650-740 (640-730)

For CoE enrolled freshmen 2016 on ASEE:
Math: 720-790 (720-795[between 790/800])
Reading: 640-750 (640-740)
Writing: 640-730 (630-730)

As I pointed out earlier, CoE put less weight in writing and the score appeared ~10 point lower in that section than LSA. However, the CR score pretty much make up that difference while the Math score is much higher than LSA for obvious reason. Go figure which composite score should be higher. That is apple to apple comparison.

the website says “entering class 2016”…

don’t be so salty

Use the official enrolled freshmen stat for comparison. Period.

One more thing to point out that there are 3 times more students submitted ACT score than SAT score to UMich in recent years. Around 10% submitted both. That number may change slightly due to the switching in MME and the complete settlement of the new SAT within the next year or so (no more HS student is in the transition from old to new SAT format). The ACT admission data has a much larger sample size and is a more reliable way for year to year comparison particularly during the mess of SAT transitioning.

Well since everyone in Michigan is required to take the SAT now, I think in the future Umich will receive more SAT scores from Michigan residents.

^ That is exactly what I mean it will change slightly in score submissions of ACT or SAT. We will see how it turns out this year. Nevertheless, percentage of students submitting ACT has been increasing significantly in the last few years even before SAT changed the format. It is not clear the change in MME is sufficient to reverse the trend.
I would not pay too much attention to the new SAT mid 50 of 2016 posted on the web (1440-1570) as the sample size is very small. That is probaby why it is a bit off from the ACT mid 50 after conversion. The mid 50 SAT this year would be a better indication.
