ACT or SAT at HYPS and chances

So I'm going to apply to all of the Ivies and University of Michigan, and I already sent in my SAT and ACT scores, still have to take Subject tests

I got a 35 on the ACT (36 reading, 36 english, 36 writing composite, 36 science, and 33 math) and a 2180 on the SAT (780 reading, 690 math, 710 writing). Will the Ivies just look at the best score (ACT)? or both?

Stats for Chances:

-Unweighted 4.0
-AP Bio, Euro, German, Calculus AB/BC, Chemistry, and Lit. (7) With projected fives

Just wondering the chances, I know Ivies are random, but I think I pretty much have all I can get... hope it's enough!

supermoose0005 - These are truly extremely impressive stats, and I believe you have a very solid chance of being admitted to most of the Ivies, including likely at least one out of HYP. As for SAT vs. ACT, you actually don’t even need to send colleges your ACT score, I don’t believe.

About your stats, though…I’m a little bit confused. When I looked through your earlier posts, some of your previous chances threads seemed to contain subtly different content. Is your rank as salutatorian a prediction of what it will be by application time, or are you #2 right now? Also, you stated in February that your Science Olympiad team had won three national first place titles…here, you say two. There are a few other discrepancies/omissions, too.

I don’t mean to offend you, and I’m not calling you a liar. I’m honestly just curious about the differences. Were the past posts (or this one) hypothetical?

Most of the things have changed. For example, I personally have one two first place medals, but the teams as a whole won as well, making three. I was advised to put just individual, as for SAT scores they might be 10 off, I can’t remember exactly, and the ACTs are right, just checked. And I just found out my thesis topic about a week ago. As for salutatorian, I added two AP classes my third trimester, and replaced my gen Ed classes… So I have a much higher GPA, and that boosted me up to 2nd behind the boy who had all APs. So, generally every discrepancy has either changed, or is a result of me typing something up really quick to see what people think my chances are.

Also, I changed the volunteer hours because I was going to be able to volunteer at Hopkins, but they gave me different lab hours, and I wouldn’t have time to do it, so I just put what I have now, and I forgot to put USTA stuff

A trimester schedule!–that explains it all. I had no idea people were allowed to take AP courses in just one trimester; the pace must be crazy fast. I’m on a block schedule, but all AP courses have to be year-long at my school.

Anyways, I’m sure your application will be among the cream of the crop. There are ways it could be better (eh…everyone knows TASP, USAMO, etc. and etc.), but really, I think your ECs are incredible, and everything else is up to par. Given that your essays and recs go over well, IMHO, you have a decent chance of being accepted anywhere. Granted, “decent chance” at Harvard is who knows what probability of actual acceptance…but I think you get my point. =) If you’re currently a junior (which I assume you are), I do not look forward to competing against you next year. =P

Haha, thank you. I love these websites, because I was thinking of some tests to take for my math club… and had never heard of TASP and USAMO oddly enough, so now I have some ideas!! Thank you. and good luck to you as well!
