Hi
I've taken both the ACT and the SAT, and here are my scores:
ACT composite 35
35math+36sci+35eng+32reading, no writing so I'm retaking in October
SAT (best score) 2130
620reading+800math+710writing. not sure about retake yet.

I guess my biggest problem is vocab and reading comprehension cause I've lived outside the U.S. for ten years. I have pretty basic vocabulary I guess. So which score should I use for college app? I'm class of '08 and I'm going to apply this fall. My ACT scores look better, don't they? Will hiding my SAT scores improve my chances? Or would it be better if I submit both?
Thank you

Don't bother retaking the SAT. Your ACT score is awesome, so don't even worry about the SAT. If you aren't taking the SAT IIs, don't bother submitting your SAT I score. And even if you do submit it, they'll take the ACT score because it's higher.

I don't think that comparison is fair. SAT is harder than the ACT in some ways. I know that ACT has science and harder math but many people score lower on the SAT.

I think that you should just keep your ACT and don't bother to take the SAT.

I'm in the same situation as you. 34 on the ACT and a 2180 on the SAT. Hopefully, my SAT score was because of my broken calculator (my math score was shameful compared to the CC average)... but I think that I'm just better at the ACT math (straightforward, not no conceptual/probability problems) than the SAT math. I think that I'm just going to use my ACT score, too, although my guidance counselor objects to this for some reason. Pfffft.

Umm, when you send in your SAT IIs, you have to send the SAT I also since every test you take is on your report.

Anyways, the 35 is fine. I've seen people get into Harvard and Yale with ACTs in the low 30s. It's your extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and GPA that count more.

I have exact same composites. Since SAT is superscored a lot places I'm def. going to try to improve the 2130. Pretty sure you can improve the 620 in SAT, but send in ACTs come college time, don't retake 35.

Jacey...I would submit them both...your SAT of 800 is perfect. Your ACT scores are great but 800 is also worth a look...your writing score is also very good so why worry?
