Spoke with ACT - they only just learned of the issue ten minutes ago and are fixing now. The person I spoke with seemed 99% sure that the composite score will not change when the remaining scores are loaded. She said, “No, it should not change.” But she couldn’t give me %100 assurance, which was a tad frustrating. She said to start checking back on the website in a couple of hours.
I feel slightly bad for the person who wrote the code for this debacle.
My composite is not equal to the average of the 2 scores showing, meaning that Reading and Science that aren’t shown are affecting the composite and their individual scares are just not displayed. The composite shown is correct
Just spoke to ACT. The person I spoke to said that the Composite Score IS accurate. The error message is only an issue with the display, not the calculation of scores. It is currently being addressed. He said to check online again this afternoon.
this afternoon? Agonizing wait! LOL. S’s composite means his science score could be anything from 32-35. If it’s on the upper end of that (34-35) then his superscore will be one point higher than the composite on this test since they round up. That’s what I’m hoping for!
Same! Mine shows English, math, and reading with error message on science. And composite is average if those 3. Dying!
My daughter’s English and Math are shown and then oracle error. Her composite is no where near the average of those 2 scores. She is freaking out. Would love for someone to post when any info from speaking to ACT. I can’t get through
@mommabear5 posts upthread are saying that calls to ACT got info that the composite is correct and that the error is a visual one (site can’t show the score number) not a calculation one. Maybe prepare your daughter for this eventuality. On the plus side, she can really drill down on any subject with a score she wants to improve and take again for a better superscore. My son averaged 34 on all sections except science, where he got a 24. Took it again in Sept and again averaged 34 on others but got at least a 32 on science (won’t know for sure till they fix the website). Just did a lot of practice tests for that section in the week prior to the test.
The composite is her highest yet, so she doesn’t want to get her hopes up. THank you for clarification
Check out posts from landasmom and chicagomom on prev page. They both spoke to ACT. Btw - the help desk must be overwhelmed – I keep getting a busy signal when I call, and the online chat doesn’t work either.
They weren’t able to tell you verbally what your score is??
@mommabear5 Well in that case, she should feel great!!!
@wrenwu I think they have a strict policy: won’t release scores over the phone or fax or email.
Got it. My daughter is freaking out, but I guess she will just have to wait until they resolve the issue!
Same problem only we show 3 scores, only missing Science. I tried their chat function on the act web site and it sent me an email saying no one is available today!
I have been lurking on CC for weeks. But I just registered to vent my frustration. What the heck, ACT? This test was the make or break for my daughter - her previous SAT/ACT scores were okay, not stellar - and this composite showing blows past tests out of the water. If there is an error w/ the composite I (we) will FLIP OUT.
I see that some have gotten through to ACT (I just get busy signal) and and mildly calmed by ACT saying the composite shouldn’t change… but still. I’d like to see the full set of scores!
obsessively refreshing site
I do not
Since the president and the congress do not seem to believe in science, ACT is under pressure not to count science. For now they are just withholding the results for this section.
My composite is 31 and the scores shown are 28 and 31 which average to 29.5 so I am praying the composite score is correct!
I got my dream score and now freaking out if that is not accurate. I’m in school now and I can’t do anything why is ACT doing this to me ;(
Same here. I have reached out to Oracle and ACT on twitter and Instagram. CRICKETS. Can’t get through switchboard either.
