ACT out of state

Because of my low SAT scores even after studying (1100), I have been looking into taking the ACT instead. I’ve been looking through some prep books, and the wording of the questions is a lot easier for me to understand. However, I wanted to register for the July 14th test date but it is not being held in my state at all during that time. There is a later September 8th date, but the testing locations for that date haven’t been announced and I don’t want to wait only to find out that it’s not gonna be held in my state again. Also, September 8 is 2 weeks into the school year and I doubt I would be able to handle the AP classes I’m taking with this test together. Would it be worth it to fly to the closest state nearby to take it? I live in Southern CA on the west coast, so I was thinking of maybe taking it in Nevada or Arizona. Thanks.

Are your parents okay with that? If so, I don’t see why not fly and take it. That’s a huge hassle, but if you think it’s worth it, why not?

It will be held in CA in September. I would take it close to home in September rather than try to fly to another state. By the time your AP classes get rolling, your ACT prep should be pretty much finished.

I took the ACT outside of my home state, so there’s no ACT policy that prevents that. However, I knew I was going to be in Utah that weekend, so I just choose a test center near my hotel.

@ab2002 yeah they’re fine with it so it’s an option. We have a small airport about 10 minutes away and plane tickets are really cheap since it’s kinda close so we might make a small weekend trip out of it or something.
