28 in math
27 in reading
27 in english
22 in science( I know its bad. Time Killed Me)

I prepared a lot for the April ACT but did terrible. I have taken many practice ACT's and gotten in the mid 30s. I am a junior so I know I don't have much time left. I am retaking the test in June and really want to get at least a 30. Can anyone please help me out and give me some advice as to how I can go about improving my score.
I am really stressed about this please help me out.

Time is the killer with the ACT. Here’s a tip that worked for my son: Try doing practice sections with a timer set for 5 minutes less than the allotted time. Yes, it’s very difficult and nerve wracking to take tests this way; your mind actually needs to process the information faster. But, if you can beat-the-clock, chances are you will do better on your next test.

Your math is your highest score already, yay! But I’ve found that it is the easiest section to prepare for… There are definite formulas and skills that you can practice. Brush up on your pre-calculus if possible, and then go back and brush up on your geometry, if you have forgotten it. Geometry seems to be a large part of the math section, and I had a hard time remembering it from my freshman year. Even though it is your highest score, raising it can only help.

Other than that, practice, practice, practice. The more used to the type of questions they are you are, the easier you will find the actual test.

You could probably pick up several points on the English section by memorizing grammer rules. My son did this by studying grammer rules out of one of the ACT prep books. He really liked a book that was the size of a paperback that says something on the cover/title about using the book if you only had a week to prep (study the book longer than for a week though). My son found this section the easiest one to prep for in order to boost his score.

I think the book northeastmom is talking about is The Princeton Review Crash Course for the ACT. It is a small book with lots of good strategies and concise reviews of basic grammar and math. Of the books I have seen, this one seems to be the easiest one to use, with lots of practical info. Best of luck to you!
