Hi,
I am taking the ACT in September and I am not sure which online course is best, or if I should go to a test prep school where you sit with students and actually take classes there.
I took the ACTs twice and got 29 and then 31 by studying at home with Princeton Review book, barrons guide to 36, and 5 pound book of ACT practice and practice tests I found online.
I am reaching for 34 or above, but I don’t trust myself enough to study during the summer by myself so I want to enroll in a prep course.
I was looking at Prepscholar since they ensure the 4 points guarantee, but some reviews say that it’s not helpful and that the guarantee is a scam etc…
I am going to be a senior in the fall.
If you’re looking for accountability, an in person class is better than online. You can avoid going on a website just like you can avoid opening a book. The website may even be worse, since you can’t easily flip the book to Instagram and Snapchat.
However, if your parent or sibling could enforce some external discipline, a tutor to help you find your weak spots plus daily study time on your own is likely more effective for raising your score. A group class can’t focus just on your needs.
My child’s tutor recommends studying from the RED ACT book. You seem to be improving nicely on your own. You must be very motivated. If you can afford a tutor, by all means meet with them at least a few times before the exam. I also agree that it should be one-on one, particularly with your high scores since you will want to move at your own pace. Good Luck!
