ACT Proctor Mistake

Hi! So taking the April ACT today, April 14th, the proctor misread his clock and announced that there was 5 minutes left when there was actually 10 minutes left. Having a watch with me, I knew he was incorrect and tried to speak up but he insisted that there was 5 minutes left. Obviously panicked, I rushed and guessed on the last 8 or so questions I had left to make sure I had an answer down. He stopped the science portion of the test five minutes early and continued on with the rest of the test. Realizing his mistake during test 5 (the questions with 20 minutes), he announced (after we finished test 5) that he’d made a mistake and that we would get to go back to the science portion for another 5 minutes.

I had my mom call and a complaint was filed with the ACT and the testing center I was at but does anyone know the protocol for what happens to your score?

Oh boy - I would be so angry! I have no idea but definitely report back.

Probably nothing. But let us know what they say.

However, although inconvenient to have had the time split, you did get the full time is I read your post correctly.

I’m guessing probably nothing. The only alternative would be for ACT to cancel all scores in your testing room and offer retakes at upcoming date.

I will for sure keep everyone posted as to what happens. I don’t think the science can count though because we had the 20 minutes in between that no one else had that, technically, puts my room at an advantage because we had 20 minutes to think about the questions before returning to the section? I literally almost had a panic attack when he said 5 minutes because I saw my watch which said we had 10 minutes left.

You, Procter and ACT are upset! Hope it works out for you and test roommates.

Thank you!

UPDATE FROM THE ACT: Received a letter today saying that I can retake for free… seems like the science score will count.
