ACT rounding 32.25 vs 32.5 (32 and 33 big difference?)

hi everyone! i also have the dilemma about ACT score rounding
my score came out like this

english 33
math 34
reading 32
science 30

dammmnnn i’m so close to a 33… i’m really upset because i usually get 32 or 33 in science. if only even if i’ve gotten a 31 like i did last time, things would have been fine. I’m also an applicant from Canada so I really at a disadvantage right now.

My question is…for the schools that do not superscore, will they recognize that I’m in a higher range of 32.25 instead of someone with a 31.5, because those two scores make a huge difference even though the composite is the same
i know that they also look at subscores, but does it make a difference between 32 and 33 as much as @Studious99 mentioned about 33 vs 34?

Thanks guys!

@MayiqueCynthia A 33 would raise your chances over 32, but it’s hard to say how much. It also really depends on what schools you are looking at. If you’re already within the middle 50% for your ideal schools, then you don’t need to retake. If a 33 will make the difference between your application not being thrown immediately in the “reject pile,” then try for 33.

Whether or not a focused retake is worth it depends on what grade you are in, how much free time you have, and what benefits you would lose by studying that you could have spent on other things. If you’re a junior and got this score on your first or second try and are getting good grades already, it’s worth it to try again. If you’re really struggling in some classes (GPA should be #1 priority), have already taken the ACT 3+ times, or are a senior, then it’s not worth it.

Finally, if you just want to take it for satisfaction and the feeling of accomplishment, that is a worthwhile (although frivolous) reason if you’re not giving anything up to retake

Hi @Studious99

Yeah, I’m a senior already and I don’t remember if schools still accept the February testing or not?

From what you’re saying in this post vs the other previous post last night, I can assume that the difference between 32 and 33 is much greater than 33 and 34 right? I’m an international student looking at top 15 and top 20 schools in the States. It seems that many school’s indicated 50% range is 31-34, in which 32 is actually on the lower end. In addition the stats are kind of skewed given legacy and certain racial groups might have lower than average scores. At this point i guess you’re right i can’t do much about it, but I’m just curious about the Feb testing and how they view a 32.25 vs 31.5…
