ACT score question! :) Thanks.

Hi everyone! I recently scored a 34 Composite on the SAT (35 English, 35 Reading, 34 Math, 32 Science) and had a few questions.

Is this good enough for schools like NU, WUSTL, Penn?

Is my 32 Science a bad thing...? I want to study neuroscience or cognitive science on a pre medicine track. I have a 780 on the Bio M subject test and 800 Math II to support my interest in stem.

My writing score was a 9 bringing my combined english writing to a 32. Is the writing score very important? I'm a very good writer, but have trouble in timed scenarios. I personally think timed writing is ridiculous (30 minutes? come on!) because most good writers will get caught up on style and not be able to finish lol... I got a 5 on the AP Lang test and my AP lang teacher can definitely attest to my writing skills (I do not mean to sound arrogant). Thoughts?

Thank you so much :)!!

You’re fine in every regard. The 9 on the essay (which doesn’t matter that much to begin with) is still within the 25%-75% range for Penn. Also, the science ACT section isn’t real science; you’re Bio M is a lot more indicative of you’re knowledge of science. Plus, a 34 composite is still really good (but if you don’t believe me, just look at the common data sets below (scroll down to section C9)

Best of luck, and congrats!

Thanks for answering all my questions!!!

34 is a great score and is above average for the schools on your list.
