ACT score

If a person gets a score of say 33 in Sept 12 ACT test and score 27 in March 13 ACT test which the school administer, some people say that universities don't like it. I don't understand this. Don't you think that I get to decide which score to send to Universities?

I believe some colleges allow you to designate which ACT scores they receive while other colleges request all of your ACT scores. If ACT scores go from a 33 to a 27, this may show colleges that you got lucky on the first ACT. Usually if you retake the ACT, your scores will improve, so it may look odd to colleges if your scores decrease. It really comes down to each particular college a student is applying to.

If the rest of your paperwork is consistent with your 33, then even if a school sees both scores, I don’t see why they wouldn’t assume you simply had a bad day when you produced a 27. If your paperwork is more indicative of a 27 sort of student, they might suspect test fraud, I suppose.

If a school requires all scores (which I think is unlikely), simply make sure to send a letter explaining the lower score (for example, you had a bad head cold the day of the second exam).
