ACT scores and colleges

Hi I recently received my ACT scores and I got a composite score of 36. But two weeks later I got my English score with the essay included and i got a 32 (My English score was a 35 without the essay). Will this have a negative impact on my achievement? Especially in schools like Stanford, MIT, Cal Tech, and Cornell/Princeton? (I am aspiring to study in Chemical Engineering)

I got a 33 composite on my ACT and got accepted early to Dartmouth engineering. If you’re going into the sciences your English score almost doesn’t matter at all (as long as it’s half-way decent). At CalTech and Stanford, pretty much every applicant has scores about that high, so don’t rely on your test scores to make you stand out.

Though they require the ACT with writing if you submit ACT, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, and Cornell do not actually use the essay score or combined essay score/English for determining admission. They also do not use the essay score from the SAT. Princeton does but does not say what impact it may have.
