hmm just a quick questions, if i took both the SAT1 and ACT but i did much better on the ACT, Harvard will use my ACT score right? my SAT1 were particuluary bad but ACTs were very good -___- don't know how that figured out... thanks a lot!!

I'm in the same situation.

Does Harvad use the best score in each section? Like a 32 in science from one date, and a 33 on Math from a different date?

From my understanding, when an admissions officer receives a slew of scores from any particular applicant, he goes through and circles the top scores. However, I don't know whether or not they combine the best sub-scores on the ACTs, since they would have to recompute Composites.

Technically, on the ACT, the subscores are not supposed to be recombined. Thus, your best ACT result is your best result, even if some subscores were worse than before. It's up to every college, however, how they handle ACT subscores; I don't know how Harvard does it. While there are downsides to the official policy, I kind of like it because that means that you can choose which ACT date you send to Harvard. They don't have to know you took the thing 20 times or whatever.
