ACT Sept 2012 MATH

@ASTOria

it was she didnt work on saturday so she mustve worked on friday…Something along those lines…
i think it was choice E…?

I put “if kathy does not work on Saturday, then she worked on Friday” . it was the last answer choice. cuz the others were like assumptions.

I AM STARTING A LIST. The way that we are currently discussing the questions is horribly inefficient. Please add to it so we don’t continue to ask the same questions over and over again!

Last question (can’t remember the wording)
l x^2-a^2 l

Radius of points in circle
5

b/(b-4) question
0<b<4

Ratio of square in quadrangle
3:7

Word problem question
“if kathy works on Saturday, then she did not work on Friday”

For the Kathy working Friday/Saturday question, I chose the middle answer choice.

Last question (can’t remember the wording)
l x^2-a^2 l

Radius of points in circle
5

b/(b-4) question
0<b<4

Ratio of square in quadrangle
3:7

For how many distinct integers is M+N=M*N
0

^lol thanks. I checked my graphing calc, too.

@ndl1290 - it was the last one, choice E. the others were kind of assumptions. it wasn’t as direct as the last one.

What was the area of the rug or whatever on the painting? 168 i think?

Thanks Nivers. I was unsure about that one.

168 (not confirmed)

The answer to the integer question was 1
And here’s why:
M+N=MN
I read this problem several times and it asked for how many DISTINCT PAIRS of integers. In other words, (2,2) wouldn’t be counted twice. It never asked for distinct integers.

@howmanyofme

ACT usually words questions well. Why would they ask for distinct pairs? This is like asking “How many distinct numbers make x+4=0.” You’re clearly not going to repeat -4 as the answer.

Last question (can’t remember the wording)
l x^2-a^2 l

Radius of points in circle

b/(b-4) question

168 (not confirmed)

For how many distinct integers is M+N=M*N
0

I can confirm the rug one.

@ndl1290

i remember it saying distinct pair…because i was pondering on the wording for a minute two… specifically on the distinct pair part.

@howmanyofme

Well, let’s say they DID ask for distinct pairs of INTEGERS, then wouldn’t (0,0) be included? cuz you didn’t say postive integers

so wouldnt the asnwer be 2?

its positive integers as well because i didn’t even attempt 0 or negatives.
it was like if M and N are positive integers, how many distinct pairs make this equation true. or something like that

It wasn’t “distinct pairs,” " it was “distinct positive”!

That’s my two cents.

anyone remember the bubble pattern for the last five?
