ACT sub scores

So I checked my ACT score this morning from the February test date and I was just wondering how sub scores worked. Both my sub scores for reading were 18, but my score was a 35. Can anyone tell me how this works? Thanks :)

The subsection scores and section scores are based on different curves. You may miss one question and still get 18 in a subsection score (just like missing 1 question may still get you 36 in section score in some cases). That is based on the percentile. However, in the whole section, with 1 wrong may get you 35 based on another curve with both subsections considered. This question come up every time with new ACT scores.
