There was also one that had an answer of 25%

^I believe so. I can’t remember the question though. That does sound familiar. Let’s hope we’re not talking about the same question lol

^^Yeah… that was the answer to the question that asked how many posibiilies of a short pink plant are possible (i think that was the question)

English - joke.
Math - jokish, rhombus took me a while to figure out
Reading - Joke for the first 3 sections, until I found out i had 5 minutes to finish the last section… skipped like 3 questions
Science - medium/tough eh a couple of weird passages… was high D = low sturdiness??? it didn’t make sense to me… and what was bubbled in the tank? GAHHH

what was that rhombus answer?

4? Look on the math post… i think that’s what the answer was

My son said the science was nothing like the practice tests - more content. In prior ACT science tests, he felt that it was a reading/chart reading test not a test on content; in fact the review books back that up. He felt that it must be a trial of a new type of test - anyone encounter this? He said all his friends (AP kids) also felt it was a lot harder than they thought it would be. Any thoughts?

Science was just like any other practice test for me, if not slightly easier.

yea science was basically the same as the practice test for me, it wasn’t that bad

Didn’t get much sleep either, decided to go out ended up being the designated driver cause everyone else knew i had acts, another kid from the party came really hungover though.

I stayed up until around 3 last night but it didn’t affect me too much today. I thought the English was really easy except for the very first question I was debating whether commas were needed because it was going from general to specific (collection of essays—>actual title of collection). Math was easy except for the last 5 problems or so. I was rushed to complete the last 3 problems but managed to only have to guess on the last question, which said something like, “Find the remaining zeros.” Reading didn’t seem too bad but I felt like I may have really messed up science. The whole thing with the genotypes really slowed me down and frustrated me. I’m hoping to beat my score of a 31, which I received twice in a row, but I don’t feel certain if I did or not. I suppose third time’s a charm.

Also, for some reason, at my testing center, we had to do a fifth part of the test. For me it was a short reading section in which I had 20 minutes to complete 16 questions based on a passage, but it was different for everyone. I’m wondering if this will have any impact on my composite score or if it’s just survey-related.

My score predictions for my first time taking the ACT:

English: 35-36
Math: 31-33
Reading 29-32
Science-25-28

With my lowest possible, I have a 30. Highest, I have a 32. I’m thinking I probably got a 31 Composite. We’ll see though! I might have gotten higher on math or reading so I don’t really know. I’m so excited to get my scores back. I didn’t get much sleep last night and felt a little sick during the last 2 sections, but it went okay.

@Soccer, it was definitely survey-related.

^Thank goodness…it seemed so random and the proctor didn’t say anything particular about it.

Does anybody know the general curves for the ACT? How many wrong in each section for a score above 30?

In the Real ACT book (the red one) they have a chart for the curves. It varies per test, but there are three different charts (three different practice tests) and it seems that you can get a 39-40 for a 36 on reading, always have to perfect on math and english for a 36, and only one of the practice tests lets you miss one for a 36 (other two say you have to be perfect)

so if i totally bombed this one (THANKS, SCIENCE) and i’m a junior, how many more chances do i have to take it?

does the essay affect your official composite or is it just reported alongside?

@ocarinzee- if you’re a rising junior, plenty more times than you ought to take it lol

ocarinzee- if you’re a rising junior, plenty more times than you ought to take it lol

I think he means that he’s a rising senior. I believe you have about 2-3 more chances. SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, and the third date if you’re not applying ED.
