@cjester - the essay does NOT affect your composite score in anyway. It’s just reported with your English score.

well i’m not a guy (no hard feelings!), and yes i am a rising senior. i probably have 2 more times. wa hoo

i had a hard to sleeping as well. But at least i didn’t stay up until 4 like I did the night before SAT. ahh if only i had a way to quell my anxiousness

Son also got a 5th section. He got a science one. he said that it was very different that the normal Science and that in that one you actually needed to science to answer the questions… good to know that it won’t afffect the composite score.

How does the ACT curve work? Is is based on the average score on each section by everybody?

Hoping for a 31…science destroyed me.

Can you really find everything in the passage/experiments?..cuz I couldn’t find what a colon was, was it digestive system?

it was digestive system and that question required outside knowledge

colon=large intestine=digestive system

it was one of the few answers i know i got right

alright thanks

So it is bull when they tell you everything is in the passage? Or does ACT actually tell you that or only the prep books say that?

Oh well, I got it right, but I kept looking around the passage, seeing if it was in there somewhere. Mistake #1. Should have just moved on.

i think theres always like 1 question that requires outside knowledge, ive only taken it once before, but last time there was some other question that wasn’t in the passage

I think the bubbles were O^2 because it was referring to oxidation… Just my thoughts on it though.

Yes, the colon is definitely part of the digestive system.

I did WEAK on the math unfortunately.
This cannot account for atypical scaling but the formula for an estimate of your score is:

questions correct/questions total*36 then (-2 english, +1 math +2 reading, +1.5 science). These are, of course, most relevant to the 18-24 score range.
Hoping for a 30 but realistically scored 27-29 range… : /

I think I got a 30+ on every section except math. Math destroyed me haha. I’m HOPING I got a 23 on it. I didn’t even finish, left 10 blank…

I’m screwed.

what was the rhombus question again i frgot

apparently it was 4

bloodymary, I would say retake in September. I did not prep at all for my first ACT in september of 09 and i got a 31, and just retook it yesterday…yeah, the first time, I had a hard time finishing the reading and science; for the science I didnt even get to the last experiment…you just need to get used to the format and just read faster. I thought I did much better on this one than i did on the first one. I say retake it.

I was finally sold on the test to O_2 because 1. It was dry water, and 2. It said “peroxide.” It should be noted that oxygen isn’t necessary for oxidation (oxidation-reduction).

I guess I’m weird, but I find I need to read the passage to answer the questions. Luckily, I haven’t had an issue with time yet. I thought the math was pretty easy too–the science really threw me though. Oh well, all I want is an upper-20 score. =)

Any predictions for science curve?

I predict -1=35 -2=34 -3&4=33.

My stradegy for the science was to spend about 25 seconds on the passages (underline key words), spend a little time on the graph (also underline key variables, etc). Then, I spent the rest of my time on the questions. This stradegy really helped me because I completed the test in about 1 minute prior of the time. Also, I got to go back and review, I thought it was fairly easy (I was scared about the Science and the CR). I hope I did well, I REALLY do not want to take another test… I feel so relieved now, I am finally done with all 7 tests I had, (AP Bio, AP English, SAT Math, SAT US History, SAT Bio, SAT, and ACT) yay!
