With the school year coming around, I'm sure a plethora of you have begun prepping for the ACT. Although the Reading section is a bit easier than the SAT, I have come to realize that I have been having a little problem with time management. Especially with the Reading and Science sections with their humongous passages.
I have started this thread in the hopes of attaining all of your experiences regarding time management.

Reading and Science sections have undoubtedly the easiest questions on the whole test; however, you are right time management with these long passages is difficult. What I suggest doing is underlining the lines containing main ideas, circling names mentioned, and putting boxes around corporations, numbers, or towns mentioned. Remember that most of the time they are not asking you for specific details but instead they are asking to see if you understood the general idea of the passage. DO NOT get caught up in the details… this will completely scew you over. Be an active reader…don’t just read the passage, digest the passage and comprehend what you’re reading don’t let it go right through you because then you will have to go back and read everything all over again. By using the method I mentioned above it’s easier for you to back track when answering the questions and you wont have to search through everything to find the answer to a question. Remember to check the clock multiple times through your test this way you know if you need to speed up or if you have more time to look through the answers better. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Don’t wait till test day to try this method or actually look through a reading section. Start reviewing a month+ before your test. Best of luck >.>
