ACT vs ACT with Writing: Do they "superscore"?

A school DD is applying to requires ACT with Writing. D took Sept.2012 ACT with Writing. She has to decide whether to sign up for the Oct.2012 ACT within the next couple days.
If she takes the Oct ACT (but doesn't do the writing) and gets a better composite than she did in Sept, will her writing score from the Sept test be connected in any way to her Oct score? (Kind of like super-scoring the SAT)

It is not an issue of superscoring. Though a number of colleges superscore ACTs, that does not answer the question as to whether they will even consider an ACT without writing when their rules require the writing section. In other words, for colleges that require the writing section for ACT will they consider an ACT without writing at all if you submit another with writing? Unfortunately most colleges do not answer that question on their sites and the only way to find out is to contact the particular colleges you are interested in. I know the answer to a couple colleges: Yale will not consider any ACT that lacks the writing section; UIUC will actually use the ACT without writing for admission if its composite score is higher than the one submitted with writing.

Always take the writing! If she gets an amazing score on this one but it doesn’t have the writing she would have to submit the previous score. It is worth the extra effort and the few extra dollars. Then you can always delete the score from the test date that is lower. If she had a good writing score the first time she can do it again with the same amount of effort!

thanks for the responses. i’ll make sure she does the writing again. too bad she wont know her score from sept’s test before she has to register again. mahalo!
