Which is easier?
I heard ACT is easier- easier reading, easy grammar, easy writing prompts, but HARDER math? I also heard theres a 'science' section where you have to read graphs or somethig. true?

from the test books i have been studying, the science section is the hardest.

the english (writing) is easier. the math i find easy, but im pretty good at math and ACT don't try to trick you like SATs do. reading is as hard as SATs.

but overall, i think that both are equally difficult BUT getting a 33 and above on ACTs is pretty hard.

The math is "harder" in the sense that there are more advanced topics including some trig. The SAT math doesn't go too deeply into those concepts, but tricks by its ambiguous wording.

There is a science section of the ACT and it is essentially reading graphs. What's hard about it is that you're not really going to understand what it all means and you don't have time to. The SAT doesn't have anything like it.

i suck at science, so not being good at science won't put me at a disadvantage right?

also, is there some correlation b/w SAT scores and ACT scores?
Like, 2400 ~ 36
I got 2070 on SAT, what would that be approx. equivalent to that ACT-wise?

I find the ACT much much easier. The reading and english are a piece of cake compared to the SAT. What the ACT does to separate the 33's and up from the rest though is make the test really long. You have to be fairly good at reading fast and comprehending what you just read because it will be challenging to make it all the way to the end of the test in each section.

I'm more math oriented and I scored higher on the ACT than the SAT. My SAT score was 2050 in march, and my ACT score was 33 in April.

Really basic stuff. You should know a little bit about graphs (independent vs. dependent variables) and about logic (e.g. not inferring something that's not represented in the data.)

You could know absolutely nothing about physics or chemistry or Earth science or whatever because it's not a test of scientific knowledge, but rather a READING test.

You could know absolutely nothing about pH and still answer questions correctly because those questions are all about interpreting the graph (A is bigger than B, C is less than D, etc.)

SAT is about what you know, ACT is about your speed. I never had trouble with time on the SAT, I just simply don't know it. ACT, I can ace the test, but there's not enough time, especially on the science.

Wow, I aced those practice questions. Is the real test that easy?

Well, I think they were pretty easy too. There will definitely be harder ones where you will not know a single thing about the subject at hand. What also makes it hard is the fact that the time limit is brutal- you may not finish the first time through.

From my experiences with taking both the SAT and ACT without studying, I thought the ACT was much easier. My scores also reflected that: 1960 and 31. I'll be retaking them after studying hardcore over the summer, so I'll let you guys know once I get my new scores back =]

WOOW llpitch.
you are such a liar in your profile.. i looked at it right now. You added 370 to your actual score of 1960 and 4 to your ACT score of 31.
What? Is your GPA a 'lie' too?

i dont get it. why would people do that? to make themselves 'look good'?

lol yeah. thousand 'wow's'
i doubt its not updated. besides, i don't think llpitch would update the profile with a lower SAT/ACT score.

hey stanford, are you going there this fall? I read in your pf that you're college class 2012. Can you give me some pointers (your EC etc) because I'm interested in applying there.. thanks in advance :)

sorry, its supposed to be 2014, and stanford is my dream school. so i can't really give you any pointers lol..except ill tell u what im doing right now- im in varsity cross country/track, going to be captain of both sports, hospital volunteering, orchestra, CSF, math club, currently rank 1 in my school, do various math competitions/science like USAMTS etc. thats all. hopefully i get to do more stuff next year, such as NHS and others. oh yeah i took the SATs already got about a 2260, got 219 on PSATs. as a sophomore. i guess that's a good start for stanford.
