Act?

Im sooo nervous about whether or not I will get into WashU because I am not the best Test Taker, and I am extremely nervous about the ACT. I am pretty positive that I won't get in the 30s unless I take it 3 or 4 times..at least...

Im top in my class and I have a really good GPA.

I take the hardest classes AVAILABLE.

I'm confident about my essay..

but still, will my ACT score make me unconsiderable?

Very few people can achieve their desired score in only one sitting. It usually takes at least 2 or 3 tests for many people to become satisfied in their score and even that is not enough for some people. If you are nervous, take a test just to get it over with and to get a feel of what the test is like. Then, when you get you score back, you will know what areas you need to work on. Most it it will probably just be time management and you can practice this by getting a practice book that contains many practice tests.

Will a higher ACT score help in admissions? Yes. Is it mandatory? Not necessarily. As long as you are strong in other areas (and you have indicated that you are) then I think you still have a good chance.

I heard Wash U superscores ACT. Any truth to this?

^ It’s true. I submitted a few test dates and they specifically said that they do this.

^ that… is… AWSOME lol. I expect the average scores must be much higher than most other schools.

You shouldn’t worry about it too much. I got in with a scholarship (current finalist) and research grant, and my highest scores are spread out over 3 tests. And I know people who have better scores from just one sitting than my combine. Test scores are important, but they aren’t everything, so don’t freak out.

If ACT isn’t your thing, try SATs or SAT2s. I personally did much better on the subject tests and I studied a whole lot less for them. Even though WashU doesn’t require them, I think they helped my application.

Good Luck!
