Actactactact

If I got a somewhat low score on my ACT is it still necessary to report it? I wrote it down on my common app., but I haven't had the official score report sent.

Also, does Yale look at your ACT if it doesn't have the writing section on it? I took one ACT with writing but got pretty low, but the second one I took, without writing was higher... should i send that one? THanks

bump.. anyone?

If you are not reporting it, I am not sure why you wrote it down on your common application. They will see you took it and assume your score was not good since you did not report it. You need to check with your guidance counselor because even if you do not plan to send the ACT scores, many guidance counselors send them anyway. You might want to tell him or her that you are not planning on sending it.

I would not send the ACT score without the writing. They will assume you did not follow the instructions. I am assuming you have strong SAT I scores. I would send only that and the three SAT subject tests. Only if you took the SAT I and the SAT II subject tests but your SAT II subject tests were not that high, would I send the ACT also, and then only if the converted ACT score was higher than your SAT I score. (ie. on the conversion charts that convert your ACT score to a comparable SAT score). In that case they would use just your ACT composite score (since they count the higher of the two if you submit both, ie. either the heigher SAT I or the higher ACT)
Since your ACT with writing is low, there would be no point in including that. Since your ACT without writing is high there would be no point in including that unless it is so much higher than your SAT score than you want to show admission officers that you performed well.
