Hi!

So I have many questions about Michigan’s MT and acting programs. I am going to be a senior this coming year. I am a male, around 5’ 10". My first question is, if I am seriously interested in both MT and acting, could I audition for both programs at UMich? If so, could I do this on the same day to eliminate travel costs? Also, if I am interested in getting a dual degree, am I accepted to the college of arts and sciences in the same pool as all the regular UMich applicants? If the MT department really wants me, will they be able to get me into the normal college in order to get a dual degree? Also, I know someone who is currently in the UMich program and this person told me something interesting. He said that if you are a male auditioning for MT, you are at an advantage to begin with. Furthermore, he said if you are “masculine appearing”, and “straight”, you are at another advantage. He says this is because many males in MT have a feminine vibe that is very common. Having this “masculine” appearance places you in a minority in the male pool of applicants. If you have have anything to say about this post please comment! Thanks!
