active clothes?

i never really used to be a sweat-pants and t-shirt kind of person. supposedly, in college, i'll need lots of these just to go to class with, or to the gym or just lounge around. how many did/do you guys bring. im gonna ask the girls more because a typical guy will say something like "two pairs of shorts & 2 shirts"(no offense). how many pairs of sweatpants/shorts/t-shirts would you think would be alright?

If you don't wear this stuff now, why on earth would you change just because you're now in college? Old habits die hard. :)

I agree with the poster above...But I'd say, bring at least ONE set of comfy sweats. If you end up sick while on campus you'll be miserable- no creature comforts of home, no parents to pamper you. Sweats might brighten your mood a little! (Or so I've been told from friends of mine who are away at school).

But no need to change your wardrobe! You'll just stand out more if the college you go to is a sweats & shorts kind of school- not a bad thing :)

You only need one pair of clothes to go to the gym in... wearing sweats to class is like wearing pajamas to class - it does happen, but it looks sloppy. The usual jeans & t shirt works perfectly well for everyday wear.

Where did you go to hs and where are you going to college? (don't answer)

Assuming that you didn't have to wear a uniform or formal wear at hs, just plan on dressing casually but CLEAN at college. Unless you will be facing cold weather in November/December, just dress like you normally do for school, home, going to the mall or a movie, etc.

But PLEASE do bring plenty of clean underwear and socks, because no one likes a musty, funky roommate. Bring enough for 2-weeks and plan on doing your laundry once a week.

laundry once a week sounds rather frequent :P.. once every two to three weeks sounds more like it - although I guess it depends on how many clothes you have and how badly your laundry basket reeeks.

AHH!! Laundry! Luckily I have a year till college but I have no idea how i m gonna learn how to do that!!!!!

"laundry once a week sounds rather frequent :P.. once every two to three weeks sounds more like it -"

Is your dorm room downwind from the UC Davis cows? After 3 weeks of dirty clothes laying around, your room will smell like the cow pasture!

Actually.. yes my UC davis dorm room was downwind of the cows in tercero! But still... inside smelt normal (I kept my windows and door shut) - outside smelt like cow in the early mornings and late evenings. If you rolled around in the cow pasture, yes you should do laundry frequently.
