I have a dilemma about the activity essay. For my long essay I wrote about a theatre experience, so I don't want to write about theatre for the activity essay because I feel like that's all I ever talk about [I do want to major in theatre, but I want to show that I'm well rounded]

I'm debating between writing about a job i have at a clothing resale store that I honestly love and writing about a volunteer activity. I am currently on leave from my job [i go back in 2 weeks and I am so excited] because I am stage managing my school's play and trying to get applications in and I just had too much on my plate. This job has helped me become more outgoing [I conquered my fear of answering the phone!], taught me how to interact with customers, and helped me create bonds with co-workers, but I'm not sure if it's as "meaningful" as volunteering will be to the colleges. However, I care more about work than I do about volunteering. I also spend a lot more time at work.

The volunteering program is an arts-based initiative that teaches middle school girls how to be critical consumers of media. It's basically female empowerment. I am a facilitator for small groups of girls and I lead activities. I am involved with 3 organizations that deal with this female empowerment. When I interviewed at Skidmore he thought i wanted to major in womens studies! Anyways, this kind of relates back to theatre and a possible career path in theatre for social change. Or I could talk about a volunteer program that deals with bullying prevention and possibly how I overcame bullying? I've only spent about 5 full days with each of these activities, so I'm not sure if that's substantial enough.

Sorry this is so long but basically I feel more passionate about work, but I feel like my volunteering is what colleges want to see.

HELP?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
