I have recently received an award. How could I get this to my candidates activity record at the USNA?

mdlrnc,

If you have already submitted your Candidate Activities Record, you need to submit a request to your Regional Director for any required changes.

Does the Regional Director make the change or does the candidate?

The candidate cannot make any changes after the Candidate Activities Record has been submitted online. Any changes need to be added to the file by someone in the Admissions Office.

Gotcha. So the additions should be emailed or hardcopied to the office?

What level of activity merits adding to the ECA stuff?? There are the obvious ... Student was elected class prexy, have been declared a national merit scholar, have been named an all-american chess player, etc. ... but what about other, not so monumental stuff like named to the history day team, 7th runner-up in the homecoming court, etc.? Any wisdom, insight here? When does the Admission Officer say, "Oh, c'mon!"

Also, wondering if my candidate should inform admission re: his recent ACT scores (recognizing they're not official). He made some substantial improvements, and of course is having the official scores sent to the Acad, but that could take 6-8 weeks as we understand?

You will have to use your best judgement. In July, my son e-mailed a 2-page Activities Record in Word format and was notified that it was added to his file. My son was told by the records administrator that once your Candidate Activities Record is submitted it cannot be changed. Any updates are done as additions to your file. Definitely don't nickel and dime the admission staff -- you don't want to tick them off.

The academy won't accept scores unless they are reported directly from the testing agency or reported on the secondary school transcript.
