Actual size of blank SAT essay pages

In the College Board's Official SAT Study Guide (the huge book with 10 practice tests), each of the 10 practice tests has an Essay prompt along with 2 blank lined pages. Each of the pages has 24 lines, for a total of 48 lines on the 2 page spread.

The first blank lined page says at the top, "Begin your essay on this page. If you need more space, continue on the next page." And of course the second page says "Continuation of Essay Section 1 from Previous page. Write below if you need more space. Do not start on this page--if you do, your essay may appear blank and your score may be affected."

My question is -- are these sample test pages pretty close to the actual amount of writing space you will have when you write the real essay? My son has been practicing on blank notebook paper, but today when I noticed this in the Official Study Guide, I told him he should use these pages to practice how much space he actually has. He thinks the Official Guide pages are not really accurate. But he admits he can't really remember from his previous SAT test how many pages were given or if the spacing was narrow or wide-ruled.

If they are pretty accurate to the amount of space you get on the Real Essay, he is probably writing too much (and therefore not getting done in 25 min.).

The exams in the BB have the exact same answer sheets as the real test. I can’t see a reason for College Board, who creates the test, to provide a different format in their official study guide.

Thanks. I was hoping someone who has recently taken the SAT would remember if 2 pages is the amount of space allotted!

Yes exactly the same.
