Actuarial Sciences vs Mathematical Economics? PLEASE HELP

I’m a freshman majoring in Math Econ at Temple University currently, and I’m thinking of switching into Actuarial Sciences, but I’m not sure if it’s the best plan for me.
Here’s my thought process: Math Econ is in the school of liberal arts, while Actuarial Sciences is in the Fox School of Business which has a better reputation, and I probably want to go into business. BUT I’m worried that if I change my mind about becoming an actuary as an actuarial sciences major, no employer will take me seriously.
Please help! I need to figure out if I want to switch by October 28 at the latest.

PLEASE…I am desperate

I would suggest talking to the advisors in Fox they are quite good and can discuss your specific situation!

My $.02 - consider going to Fox, you’ll be in a better position to switch to finance, accounting, marketing, etc. if you decide not to pursue actuarial sciences.

Agreed, talk to advisors at Fox.

Yes, talk to your advisor, but be assured that taking all those stats classes as part of the actuary major will make you employable even if you don’t want to be an actuary, as long as you learn some useful statistical software packages. Lots of jobs out there for big data people.

Thats a good point about lots of employment these days in jobs for stat and big data people!! In fact starting NEXT YEAR Temple is offering a Statistic and data analytics major in Fox!
