<p>Once you get rec from guidance and from your teachers, does it make sense to get additional rec letter from your employer, mentor, etc. especially if they are alumni from your first choice school (non-Ivy)?</p>
<p>I think getting an extra letter of rec can be beneficial if you believe that your employer or mentor can provide new, different information about you that your counselor/teachers can’t. However, the alumi part won’t make a difference, I don’t think.</p>

<p>Exactly. Extra recs should provide extra information. Empty recs submitted for the sake of being from an alumni are akin to impersonal recs written by a governor who is a family friend.</p>
