Hello, I was recently rejected from a lot of the schools that I was hoping to get into or even be waitlisted.
With my stats I knew UMich, Boston University, Wisconsin Madison, and Tulane were impossible
-1390 on SAT
-GPA 3.9
-New Jersey so Out of state
-quite a few volunteers works in music and service
-decent rec letters from science and AP lit teachers
-2 AP scores of 4
I was deferred from Michigan, Tulane, Villanova and straight up denied at Boston and Wisconsin.
The thing is that since my rejection, I haven’t had any accomplishments such as taking the SAT again or awards or anything… so even if i write a letter of appeal to any of these schools, I won’t be writing about my accomplishments; I would just be asking them to review my application again or at least put me on the waitlist.
I advise you to move on. Theses colleges will not put you on the waitlist, and they will not review your application again. If they are going to admit more stduents, they are going to draw from their waitlists. There is a reason why hundreds will be offered waitlist. It’s so they have a large pool of people to draw from.
You said you knew those schools were impossible. So why are you surprised you were denied? I hope you have some colleges to choose from.
Yep. Appeals letters only have even a sliver of a chance of success if there’s something serious and quantifiable that the college somehow overlooked in reviewing your app.
I’m slightly confused, you have a 3.9 GPA and you were denied from these schools? Also, you thought it was going to be a reach? The average GPA for BU is a 3.6 and for Tulane, it’s a 3.5. So you definitely should have gotten into those schools.
How is the 3.9 GPA computed? Is this weighted? As far as I can tell different high schools have very different ways to compute GPA, so it is hard to compare this without more information.
When you say “deferred”, do you mean put on the waitlist?
I agree with others that the chances of an appeal working seem bleak.
